My dog being a dog
|
Week 1 |
1) For this photo I just held a treat in my hand and made my dog sit. I only have one for this week because the other ones I took came out blurry.
2) For the edit I kinda just turned the saturation up on her eyes and it turned them blue.
3)The final photo I chose was this one because it came out the best, Quality wise and dog wise.

My cat
1)For this week I took pictures of my cat he was kind of just doing whatever so I tried to get some photos, Im pretty sure he poses for the pictures though, These were the best ones out of the pictures I took.
2) For editing I just used the picture that looks the best and made his eyes red and they ended up matching the color of the house. 3) I chose the final photo due to the fact it had the best quality, and it looked super good. |
week 2I took all these photos of my cat Tank because he was just chillin around and I thought since he is cute he would do well for some photos, and I got him stretching.

My other cat who is not that cute
1) For this week I took some pictures of one of my other cats doing what she does most, sleep. I only used a few photos because there was not a lot of variation between all the ones I took.
2) I just edited the background and the blanket of one of them because there was nothing I could do to make the photos better. 3) I chose the one below for the final photo because she was looking at the camera and it looked better than the others. |
week 3This is my cat Ranger just doing what she does literally all the time which is basically just sleeping and being grumpy.

Research
1) For this week I took pictures of my chickens, I have 10 of them but they were not all coming out for the photoshoot. All they do it walk around and peck stuff so that is what I took pictures of
2) I did not have any time to edit them before the week was over so I don't have anything to say. 3) For the final photo I used the one where the chicken was looking at me at the bottom, It looks kind of blurry but I chose it because it looked funny. |
week 4 |
1) For this week I took pictures of my orange cat, I took around 6 pictures or something and they all were basically the same.
2) For the edit I just changed the background colors, I would have changed the color of her eyes but they were not even in the photo I chose for the final. 3) For the final photo I just used the one that looked the best to me and thats the one where it is just her legs. I chose it because I liked the way her fur looked in the picture. |
week 5 |
1) For this week I took about four pictures of my cousins dog.
2) For the edit I just changed the background to different colors in one of the pictures, I changed the saturation of her eyes as well. 3) For the final photo I chose the one where she was looking straight at the camera, I chose it because it made the most sense for a final photo. Edit^

week 6 |
5 step critique
I printed and matted the pre-edited picture of the edit.
Observe)
Describe) I took this photo at my cousins house of her dog. I made the dog sit and look at the camera and then took multiple photos.
Analyze) In this photo Texture and Movement connect in this picture, they connect because the texture of her fur has like waves and it keeps your eyes moving through the entire photo.
In this photo Space and Emphasis connect as well, they connect because the empty space in the photo keeps your eyes on her (the dog) and she is very emphasized compared to the rest of the picture.
Interpret) The mood of this picture is very mediocre/happy, there is nothing to make it a sad picture, the way she looks makes it more of a nice picture. The story behind this photo is being at easter at my grandmothers house with my entire family there, me and my cousins were in the back room of the house just messing around taking pictures because we are both in digital photo.
Evaluate) Overall I genuinely like this picture but I think there could be some slight improvements. Including there could be less blurriness in the picture and maybe more of a close up.

Artist Statement
For this semester of Digital Photo my portfolio topic was to take pictures of animals just doing normal animal things like being cute. I did not plan to take any of my photos, I just went with the flow and took the pictures that felt right for the situation. When I am about the take the pictures I can often visualize how they are going to turn out and if they will look good or bad in a final product, I can tell by the way the animal is sitting or lying and how they look at the moment, and that is where I decide to take them or not. For example, the picture of my dog, whenever I was at my house or my friends house, I would not plan to take any of the photos I would just see a good opportunity, for example one of the animals looking cute. I believe I am just starting to become a good photographer even after taking Digital Photo and Advanced Digital Photo. Our environment and with how many people love and have animals made this topic perfect for me. The pictures I take and the work I do does connect to my life outside of school for many reasons. For example, hanging out with any type of animal is one of my favorite hobbies and I like to edit things to make them look trippy in certain ways because that kind of stuff just looks super cool to me. Digital Photography was probably my favorite classes I have ever taken and I wish I could take it an infinite amount of times.
